Biography:

Welcome families and students to the 2018-2019 school year! I am so excited to see new and familiar faces this year! This will be my 15th year of teaching. In this time, I have taught all the primary grades, but this will be my first year teaching intermediate. My husband and I live here in Mesa and have two boys. Hunter is 10 and Greyson is 5; and they keep me busy when I am not at school! We added to our family in February and got two puppies, Queen Kong  and Rocky. They are sisters; and bring even more energy to our house!
I have spent most of my life in Arizona. I grew up in Fountain Hills, attended Northern Arizona University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and attended University of Phoenix where I received my Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction. I was born in Wisconsin, lived in Minnesota, moved to AZ when I was 2 and have resided in Fountain Hills, Flagstaff, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, and finally Mesa. I have always wanted to teach, so everywhere I have been centered around being in schools and teaching children; preschool - jr. high! My favorite things other than spending time with my school family and home family include yoga, hiking and reading. I went to Costa Rica this summer on a yoga retreat, then took my boys to my Minnesota hometown for 3 weeks so we could enjoy family and small town fun like fishing, county parades and fairs, farm life, truck pulls and much better weather! Traveling is fun, but I always enjoy getting back home and into routine.
To My 4th Grade Students:  I'm really looking forward to this new adventure with you! In my classroom, you students are active members of a community and part of a family. We will learn and grow together. You can be dreamers, thinkers, artists, readers, scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and what ever else you put your mind to. You will never know what you are capable of if you never try. I am privileged to guide you through the journey this year.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Huish
