in YOUR school.
We have high expectations for our students and are looking forward

don't hesitate to give us a call!
Go Jayhawks!
Mrs. Yslas
V.E. Johnson Principal
We all want the best for your
children, but we are not enough. You, the parents, must play a key
role in the education of your children. Your words of encouragement,
a hug when the day has been rough, your interest in your children's
work, and your presence at school are vital!
Parents count! Come to school,
meet us, talk to us, join the PTO and volunteer your time and energy.
Your involvement will show your children that you value their
education. Let's work together!
Character First!
Thanks to a grant obtained by Johnson, with the help of State
Senator Peterson, we are implementing a program to make character
traits more visible for the students. Character traits are
introduced and discussed using animal stories and stories of
historical figures.
The nine traits discussed in the program are the following:
- Gratefulness - Letting others know by my words and actions how
they have benefited my life.
- Generosity - Realizing that I am a trustee of all I have and using
everything for the best purposes.
- Orderliness - Arranging myself and my surroundings to achieve the
greatest efficiency.
- Forgiveness - Clearing the record of those who have wronged me and
not holding a grudge.
- Sincerity - Eagerly doing what is right with transparent
motives.
- Virtue - Demonstrating honesty and integrity in my life by doing
what is right.
- Attentiveness - Showing the worth of a person by giving full
concentration to his or her words.
- Obedience - Cheerfully carring out the directions and wishes of
those who are responsible for me.
- Truthfulness - Earning future trust by accurately reporting past
facts.
