  Meet Mrs. Jenny!

Jenny Goode grew up on Long Island, New York and moved to Arizona in 1997. She met her husband, Jon in Flagstaff while working on her bachelor’s degree in flute performance. In 2001, Jenny began her teaching career as a music teacher on the Navajo Reservation in Leupp, AZ, which is located 45 miles east of Flagstaff. She moved to the east valley in 2005 and began teaching in a multi-aged Montessori learning environment looping over the years to include experience ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade. It was in the last three years that Jenny was inspired to begin coursework that specifically meets the needs of gifted students. Jenny loves sharing her passion for creativity, logical reasoning and innovative design projects.

She is a professional, life-long learner. Her love of college/university learning began at, The Juilliard School: Pre-College Division, where as a high school student Jenny would travel into Manhattan, by train, every Saturday to study flute, music theory and perform in the the Pre-College Orchestra. Upon graduation, Jenny then began studying at S.U.N.Y. Geneseo in upstate New York and continued for three years before transferring to Flagstaff, where she finished her bachelor's degree and continued right into a Master's degree in Flute Performance. She also went on to attain a Post-baccalaureate in Elementary Education and another Master's degree in Educational Leadership: Principal K-12 several years later. Jenny is National Board Certified in Literacy: Reading and Language Arts EC/MC. She holds both the Elementary I and II Montessori credentials. She is AZ Certified in Elementary Education with Endorsements in Gifted and Talented, Early Childhood, Music, English as a Second Language, and Reading. In addition, Jenny actively pursues professional development opportunities as a continuing education student from various institutions to stay current on researched-based learning strategies and practices to better meet the needs of her students- and because she just finds it interesting and satiates her curiosity for learning.

In addition to teaching, Jenny has a passion for music performance and integrates music into her instruction whenever possible. She is a Flotilla Staff Officer in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Band and enjoys playing for military functions and events throughout the valley. She also owns her own small business where she teaches private flute lessons to students of varying ability and ages from 6-79.

She lives in Mesa with her husband Jon Jeffery, a photography teacher at Mountain View H.S., her two sons Vance, who is 4 years old, Weston, who is 2 months old and her cat Meatball.
