About Michelle Noe

Welcome to resource at Johnson Elementary School.

Experience:

Currently I have a double BA in Special Education/General Education and have earned a Masters degree in administration as well. Additionally, I earned a reading endorsement / ESL endorsement after completing a month long study in Mexico. I have been trained in numerous remedial programs. I am a member of the International Dyslexia Association as well as the Council for Exceptional Children. At Johnson Elementary, I teach Specific Learning Disabilities Resource and do both a pull-out model and collaboration model working closely with general education teachers. Over the years I have been a general education teacher in every intermediate grade garnering more than 29 years of experience here in Mesa Public Schools.

Let's work together:

Teaching children is my passion and I find it very rewarding working with this age level. I love helping change trajectories where children can be successful to their maximum potential.  Working together we can accomplish more. Together we can advocate for your child to ensure the highest success. We can pinpoint deficits and build on strengths while raising the bar building a solid foundation of success.

I am a mother of 4 children. I am a foster mother and I am a huge advocate of utilizing trauma informed practices. I love to read and learn about all the new research from experts like Dr. Van Der Kolk, Dr. Bruce Perry, Dr. Karyn Purvis, Dr. Becky Bailey, and Dr. Ross Green. I try to incorporate new research into my teaching practices.

Understanding The Brain:

When we adults understand the neuroscience of the brain, we can better coach children to teach them how to better manage life's upsets and navigate their world. Educators now know that executive function can be taught and practiced when given the right information and coaching. Parents and teachers need to work IN UNISON to create an environment where kids can feel respected and encouraged in order to have an optimal success.

Communicate with me to ensure success:

Tips to help your child

  • Encourage your child to read 365 days a year. The best way to improve is to practice. This works. Do it and do it often.
  • Ensure your child eats a healthy breakfast.
  • 8+ hours a night of good sleep (lack of sleep can mimic ADHD)
  • Scheduled homework not to exceed one hour nightly.
  • Check and sign the daily agenda and check homeroom teacher's web page.
  • Contact teachers if you don't see child doing homework or something seems off. Do not wait. There is homework Mon-Thurs ALWAYS.
  • Advocate for your child and teach child how to self-advocate too.
  • Become an expert on your child's particular area of concern.

Dr. Haim Ginott Quote

"I've come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or de-humanized." quote by Dr. Haim Ginott
