“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” – Albert Einstein
I am Ms. O’Grady and I have been ‘awakening joy in creative expression and knowledge” since 2005! My teaching career first began in the Private and Charter sector of education as a Montessori teacher. In 2008 I moved my practice to the public sector and began my career with Mesa Public Schools at Johnson Elementary. My educational references extend to a BA in Elementary Education, 6-9 AMS Montessori Elementary Education Certification, and a MA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Montessori Education. After 10 years of Montessori Education I decided to extend my teaching career to also include a “Traditional” approach and transferred to teaching ‘Traditional’ 4th grade in 2015. With teaching being a passion I couldn’t just stop at the Elementary level… I began teaching for the Early Childhood Education department for a local community college in 2012. At the college I primarily teach Child Development and other various classes such as Introduction to Education, Behavior Management, Parent/School Communication and Preparing the Classroom Environment. Teaching truly is a passion!
Outside of teaching some of my other passions include outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. I also enjoy taking day trips around this glorious state with my husband and two children. As an Arizona transplant (I moved here from Southern California in 2001) I greatly appreciate the wide open spaces and diverse landscape that Arizona has to offer!
I look forward to another great year here at Johnson Elementary and getting to know all of my students and their families! Always feel free to message me if you have any questions. I am a firm believer that You (the parent) are an expert on your child and we can work together to help him/her accomplish great things!
