Biography
Welcome to 6th grade! My name is Kathy Reed and I am the 6th grade teacher in Team 3! I can’t believe that this is my 31st year of teaching! I graduated from the University of Nebraska, and received my master’s degree from Northern Arizona University. In addition, I have an SEI endorsement. During my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to teach 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I also teach for ASU. Language Arts is my specialty and I am currently in my 15th semester of teaching teachers, how to teach Language Arts to K-8th grade students.
I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and am a huge Huskers fan! I married my high school sweetheart. We have two adult sons, 1 daughter in-law, 2 granddaughters, and 1 grandson. In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking, and hiking.
I believe that all children are born with special “gifts”. It is my job as a teacher to help the students realize their strengths and build upon them. In Team 3, we work hard to build a strong classroom community! In order for students to be successful, they must feel safe and have a sense of belonging. The students in Team 3 have tons of fun while at the same time working towards mastery of all 6th grade State Standards.
