Early Learning Preschool (MELP)
The MELP program is offered to those children
who turned four years old before September 1st and whose family meets
the program income guidelines. (Call 472-0378 to inquire about the income
guidelines.) Parents will be asked to supply the following information:
-
A copy
of your child's birth certificate
-
Proof of
up-to-date immunizations
-
Proof of
residence (driver's license, utility bill, etc.)
-
Verification
of monthly income
The
MELP program is offered here at Keller during our afternoon session and
these students eat lunch together here at school. The MELP program is
based on the Creative Curriculum which is a play-based curriculum. Through
play and exploration of the classroom environment children learn many
things and build a strong foundation for a life of learning. We have many
centers the children visit each day. The center choices are as follows:
Computers, Blocks, Table Toys (puzzles, games, pattern blocks, etc.) Art,
Playdough, Housekeeping, Library. We also spend time outdoors on our playground
strengthening our muscles and working on fine tuning our large motor skills.
We meet each day at large group where we sing, assign jobs for the day,
learn fingerplays, dance, and share important stuff. Everyday we learn
something new and enjoy each other.
