Biography

Like many of our students, Abraham Garcia began band in the 5th grade where he learned to play the trumpet. He continued playing throughout his time in junior high, at Cesar Chavez High School and at Arizona State University, graduating with a B.M. degree in Music Education. Mr. Garcia has been an employee of Mesa Public Schools since 2015 and has taught at several schools as a travelling music/band teacher such as Kerr Elementary, Edison Elementary, Hermosa Vista Elementary and Crismon Elementary.

The 2020-2021 school year is going to be Mr. Garcia’s 6th year at Kerr Elementary. He has been a part of the Kerr community since the beginning of his teaching career! Although the trumpet is his main instrument, Mr. Garcia loves playing all of the band and general music instruments.

When he is not in the classroom, Mr. Garcia can be found teaching high school marching bands around the valley, watching Star Wars, or practicing his ukulele.
