KARAOKE CLUB

Show off student talent through songs!

CHESS CLUB

Come compete against other students and show

off your chess moves. Teach sportsmanship, share chess strategy.  Everyone Welcome!

GUITAR CLUB

Students who enjoy playing guitar get together weekly to meet friends, learn new techniques and make music.

TRACK & FIELD CLUB-Girls

Sell t-shirts and go to city meet in April.

TECHNOLOGY CLUB

Technology provides interested students with an opportunity to work in woods and plastics.  We also work on skills to compete in a state-wide competition.

NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE CLUB

We participate in community service by

Helping during holidays and Salt River

Community activities.  Other activities

include making crafts, guest speakers,

and field trips.

ORCHESTRA CLUB

We rehearse everyday in class for performances, such as concerts and festivals.  There are four concerts during the year for all students and a couple festivals as well.

7TH & 8TH GRADE INTRAMURALS

After-school sports programs held throughout the year for 7th & 8th graders.  Boys and girls basketball, volleyball, flag football and soccer.  Competition is between rival junior highs.

 Open Gym

Activity club is for students who enjoy playing active sports and games in an informal setting.  They vote and choose what activities they would like to try and meet new friends.

Meeting Time:  Wednesday 5:30pm - 6:30pm

J.O.O.I. Jr. Optimist International

Volunteer services in community fingerprinting young kids.  Sponsors young children (read, provide items, perform plays with a positive message) who are less fortunate.

N.A.L. National Academic League

It successfully combines the important aspects of competitiveness, strategy, teamwork and cooperation in a group effort.  The National Academic League motivates and recognizes academic athletes in competition games.

WRESTLING CLUB

This is for anyone who wants to learn about the sport of wrestling.  It is also an opportunity for 7th & 8th graders to gain some experience for the following season(s).

ART CLUB

Experiment with new mediums; build an art community, experience art in our lives and service learning.

To build and improve softball skills for competition and as a life long hobby.  To support the Kino softball team.

WRITING CLUB

A place to learn about and share creative writing.  Sponsors Kino’s annual writing contest, hosts writer’s workshops and reading circles.

Meeting Time:  Monday, 3:45-4:15 PM (Writer’s workshop; short creative assignments will be given one week in advance and discussed on Monday). Thursday, 3:45-4:15 PM (Bring something you wrote to read aloud or just come to listen.

World Science Club

Students will apply science to do service learning

projects which will have a local or global impact.

 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL

Kino's student council consists of student body

officers, class presidents, and homeroom

representatives.  We sponsor dances, organize

community and school service projects, and

supervise the spending of student activity funds.

This is an elected position.

STUDENT SUPPORT GROUPS

Group is a safe place where you can talk about and receive support for any concerns you are having in your life.  You will find that there are others who are having difficulties similar to yours.  Groups are facilitated by school counselors.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

Concentration on community service, maintaining and honoring academic excellence.

CLOSE-UP

Students in the 7th & 8th grade take a trip in April to Washington D.C.  Students will be able to see various sites such as:   Congress, The Supreme Court, The White House, National Monuments and Museums while meeting new friends from across the nation.
