Mr. Keith Gunter

I am so excited to be working with your children. My name is Keith Gunter and this is my first year living in Arizona and first year teaching at Kino Jr. High.

Originally from Colorado, I moved here from south Florida in March of this year. Getting away from the constant humidity and the bugs has been awesome.

I have a BS in Science Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a MS in Commissioner Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and have attended BYU-Hawaii and the University of Aarhus in Denmark.

Teaching is my second career but truly my first joy as far as a profession. I have spent 28 years in the pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging world. Have worked for Genentec, Novartis and Boehringer Ingelheim during those years. My experience in this world helps me bring great experiences and understanding into my science classrooms.

I have taught Sr and Jr high science for 14 years in Florida at Plantation High School, Campbell Drive Jr. High and South-Dade Academy as well as being science department chair for 11 years.

In early 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage-4, NH lymphoma and went through a year of chemotherapy and resigned my teaching position. Getting my health back has been an incredible experience for me and as of February of this year I have been in total remission for over three years.

I am looking forward to helping your children continue their science education and sharing with them my love of the subject and passion for learning.
