Biography
Mr. Gibson is the director of choirs and guitar instructor at Kino Junior High. He has been teaching at Kino since 2005. Mr. Gibson holds a bachelor of Music Education degree from the Katherine K. Herberger College of Fine Arts at Arizona State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He has directed adult, youth, and community choirs in the Phoenix area, and has been a guest conductor at the Choral Rendezvous in Challis, ID every summer since 2005. Under his direction the Kino choirs have performed in American Choral Directors Association and Arizona Music Educators Association festivals, and the Concert Choir appeared at the 2008 AMEA conference. Mr. Gibson has taught guitar privately since 2003 and was a class guitar instructor at the Mesa Arts Center for three years. Currently Mr. Gibson is the Vice President of Junior High and Elementary Activities for the Choral Directors of Arizona, a constituent group of the Arizona Music Educators Association. He is an active member of his church choir and plays professionally in the Phoenix area with a band called Booya. Mr. Gibson enjoys teaching music of all genres and styles, and feels that every student’s life can be enriched by the experience of making music.
