I've been in the Kino family since 2013 and am so glad you're joining us!  I teach 8th Grade English Language Arts, including the honors and gifted classes.  I am an AVID trained teacher and feel lucky to be able to bring AVID strategies to my classroom.  I sponsor Kino's Phonetic Spit program, designed to empower students' written and oral literacy.

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from Alhambra High School.  After that I spent time in the education realm as a substitute teacher, a home bound teacher, and as a teacher in correctional education (aka prisons).  I attended Grand Canyon University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English and then my Master of Arts in Gifted Education.  Go 'lopes!

I have lived in Mesa for over nine years now and am proud to call it home.  I have two children who also attend school in the Mesa district.  When I'm not in the classroom, I love to hike, camp, watch baseball, and read and read and read.
