Second Grade is Fan-Cactus!
I would like to welcome you to second grade! My name is Mrs. Hannah Reis and I am so excited to be your child's teacher. I was raised in Mesa, Arizona and graduated as a Toro from Mountain View High School. I then moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend the University of the Incarnate Word on a synchronized swimming scholarship. After graduating and retiring from my short performance career at SeaWorld, I began teaching in Texas. After a while, I decided to move back to Arizona and continue my teaching career in the Mesa Public School District. This will be my seventh year as a Las Sendas Coyote.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Lucas, for five years. We live nearby with our daughters Lillian (three) and Holly (one) and our two crazy pups, Hattie and Aria. We love to spend our time outside enjoying the beautiful Arizona weather and naturally, we find ourselves spending quite a bit of time in the pool! We all LOVE the water. Hattie is the only one who is a bit unsure. She usually ends up being the "lifeguard" on deck and faithfully does laps around the pool as we swim. But, when the weather is too hot to be outside, we like to go to the IDEA museum, the aquarium or Legoland! When it cools down, we like to visit the parks in our neighborhood and enjoy exploring new hiking trails. Some of my personal hobbies are reading books (especially mysteries!), walking the aisles of Target, tackling a workout at Orange Theory and playing board games with Mr. Reis and anyone else who will play with us. And of course, a game night is not complete without snacks! I love popcorn, chips and salsa and trail mix. Although I usually eat fairly healthy, I also love a good treat! When my sweet tooth strikes, I like to reach for licorice, kettlecorn, a popsicle or anything decorated with sprinkles. During the days, I drink a lot of water but like to switch it up with a Powerade Zero, Zevia, flavored water and of course, coffee. I love my runs to Starbucks for an iced coffee with almond milk!
I am really looking forward to our year together! We are going to learn all kinds of things from place value and addition/subtraction within 100, to analyzing poetry, fiction stories and nonfiction texts. We will also learn about the human body, the Revolutionary War and Ancient Civilizations! Second Grade is such a fun year. I am so excited to be a part of your journey!
Ps. If you read this, send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) letting me know a few of your favorite things! I would love to hear from you before school starts. (:
