smartboardEvery regular education classroom at Lehi Elementary has a SMART Board interactive whiteboard attached to a computer with a projector system for use in enhancing curriculum delivery.  This technology has enhanced instruction by the ready use of the internet, visual image projections, and accessibility to learning that is stimulating and engaging for the students.

clickersEach grade level at Lehi Elementary has a Classroom Performance System or set of "clickers."  Clickers are small, handheld devices that allow students to respond to questions asked verbally, on paper, or on the SMART Board.  They enable the teacher to instantly assess student's comprehension of concepts.  This program provides another way for Lehi teachers to make learning stimulating and engaging for all students.

Our computer lab is equipped with 36 computers, a digital camera, a video camera, a scanner, a projector, and two printers--one color and one black & white.  The lab is visited weekly by each class and instruction is delivered by the classroom teacher with the assistance of the computer lab technician, Mrs. Jett.  The classroom teacher determines the focus of each visit to the lab with activities that support instruction in the core curriculum areas as well as computer literacy.

Our classrooms are all equipped with three computers for students’ use.  The computers are used primarily for research, typing, the Accelerated Reader program, the Accelerated Math program, and learning centers.  The use of the computers in the classroom is central to supporting the curriculum and offering students another means of applying learned skills.

document cameraIn addition to computers and SMART Boards, classroom teachers also have document cameras and Mobi's (Mobile Interactive Whiteboards) available for classroom use. The document camera's connect to the projection system and can show 3D objects and enlarge books on the screen. Mobi's allow for wireless control of a projected computer (giving the teacher freedom to move around the classroom) and also interact with the clickers to instantly communicate student response data on the integrated LCD display.

We continue to seek out opportunities to expose our students to the world of learning through the use of technology.  We appreciate the support of our P.T.O. and community members who have joined us in this endeavor.
