Kids in Philanthropy Project

In partnership with Mesa United Way and John Whiteman, students in 5th grade at Lehi participated in a philanthropy project.  The project begins with a generous contribution from Mr. Whiteman through the Mesa United Way.  The funds are virtually given to the students so they can decide which charitable organization they want to receive the donations.

Representatives from the Mesa United Way visited Lehi to talk about the best way to choose a charity organization.  Students then conducted research about reputable charities that interest them.  A field trip to Paz de Cristo and The Child Crisis Center helped students see the need and understand how their donations benefit the organization.

The students learned that philanthropy means the love of humankind and through this project, students learned that they can make a difference.
