Bring Reading Home with Read-At-Home Backpacks

Parents of Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, here's your chance to help your students with reading skills at home.  Just read and sign the Read-at-Home agreement and you can bring home a backpack with positively reviewed books and activity sheets.

Sample activity sheets

These titles are perfect for reading aloud or shared reading.  The stories naturally lend themselves to conversation.  We have many backpacks that contain a Spanish and English version of the story. Each backpack includes an activity sheet.  These activities are meant to be a fun way to stimulate conversations and create good feelings about books within families and so create a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Student Book Review Team

In exchange for a well written book review, students can be the first to choose from the new arrivals .  The reviews are posted for all to read. If the student wishes to do so they can share it on the School's News Station, KHWK.  Reveiws are also entered in Desiny Quest, the library's online catalog, and can be accessed with the book record. This way more kids know what books are in our Resource Center.  Join the team.  Find and fill out an application in the Resource Center.
