R.I.S.E Reading / Quest
R.I.S.E. (Reading is so Exciting!)
One of the goals at Mesa Public Schools is to promote a lifelong habit of reading for our students. Our goal is to develop readers who can read for both information and enjoyment. Students in grades Kindergarten and 1st participate in this program, which focuses on the time spent reading, rather than the number of books read. Students, along with their parents, complete the R.I.S.E. record sheet to record 15-minute reading increments, and turn them in for rewards at various levels.
Students in 2-6 participate in this customized reading program. Students pick books with different point values. After the book is read, students take a test and receive points for passing scores. You are only allowed to take the same test once. There are over 3600 books that are currently on our Quest reading list!
If you child has a book that is not on our Quest reading list, they may put in a request for a test to be written. We are always looking for parent volunteers for this program. Please contact Marie Lombardi at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
