Battles, Goodbyes, and Welcomes
Monday is a BIG day in the Media Center!
Most importantly, the FINAL 5th & 6th Grade Battle of the Books happens at 1:45 in the Media Center. Families of the participants are invited to attend. Please check in at the office first and get a visitor badge, then come in to the library to see the competition and the awarding of prizes. The top 3 finishing teams will receive trophies, and all participants receive a certificate and a free book. The top team will go on to represent RMRE at the District semi-finals at Stapley Jr. High's auditorium on Tuesday, April 17th, at 6:30 pm (and beyond, if they continue to score in the top 3 of that competition).
The Buzzer Battles for 2nd-4th graders selected as the readers for their respective classes will be held May 16th (3rd grade) and 17th (2nd and 4th grades); specific times will be announced later. Teams are selected by the classroom teacher for this battle, so have your child speak to the teacher if they are interested in participating.
Monday is also my last day at RMRE. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know your children and hopefully encouraging their reading journeys and teaching them some cyber-safety. My replacement is Mrs. Smith. She has been at RMRE even longer than I, so she is quite familiar with our students, the families, and the exciting culture of learning we have here at RMRE. I hope you continue to give her the support that you've given me over the years. It's been a pleasure.
