Longfellow Jazz Concert

Longfellow students enjoyed their second jazz concert performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Band, Jazz Academy musicians. This 3 concert series is presented through the Mesa Arts Center and teaches American history through jazz music.

Huge numbers of African-Americans moved from the south to the industrial north in the decades following World War I. In cities such as Chicago, Washington D.C., and New York City, African-American writers, artists, musicians, and political thinkers emerged at the forefront of American culture. This concert will focus on the innovations and achievements of this era, and the significance of the Great Migration in the development of jazz.

Parent Involvement

Parents are a child’s first teacher.  The role played by parents is extremely important in influencing our children’s behavior and academic success.  We welcome parent volunteers and encourage participation our Family Literacy Program.  If you are interested in working closely with the school, please contact Esmeralda Ramirez at 480-472-6558.

Uniform Guidelines

Longfellow is a uniform school.  All students are expected to be dressed in uniforms daily. 

Uniform Guidelines:

1) Red, White or Blue tops--Polo shirt style—with no emblem

2) Navy blue bottoms--shorts, skorts, pants (jeans, basketball shorts and leggings are not allowed)

3) All shirts must be tucked in

4) No flip flops—girls sandals must have a strap.

Bell-The bell rings at 8:20 a.m Students should be in line by this time. 

**Students are to arrive on campus after 8:00 a.m.** Students that arrive on campus, without previous arrangements, will be asked to come to the office and parents will be contacted.

Dismissal will be at 2:55 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Early Release Wednesdays at 1:55 p.m.

Changes in the way students get home daily must be cleared through the office.
