Parent Center
Home School Connection

Longfellow has a Parent Center in the front office that is supervised by Mrs. F. Garcia and Mrs. C. Parra, the Parent Liaisons. Some of the things the Parent Center provides are:

Information about child development, family relationships, and ways to expand resources as parents

Parenting classes

Interpretative services for monolingual families in our school

Information and referrals to community services and resources

Home visits in situations where there is no phone or no response to notes sent home.

Parent Volunteers: They will complete paper grading, xeroxing, die cutting, or any miscellaneous jobs.

Laminating: Is done on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Parent Resources: Parenting videos, books, educational games and free pamphlets.

School Uniforms: Uniforms are loaned to students out of compliance.

Volunteers

Volunteers are encouraged and welcomed at Longfellow. A student cannot have enough positive adult role models. Please contact Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Parra in the Parent Room or the front office to volunteer. Here are some ways to help our school:

Read to or with a student or class.

Help a student with math.

Donate good readable books to classes or the library.

Help in the Library.

Help students with a Science or Social Studies project.

Laminate and cut projects in the parent room.

Zerox papers.

Grade papers.

File papers.

Donate uniforms (new or gently used)

Longfellow parents can volunteer to earn uniforms for their children. Contact Mrs. Garcia or Mrs. Parra for information.

Save Campbell's labels, Box Tops for Education, and receipts from Fry's, Bashas and Food City.

Recycle your paper waste (catalogs, old mail, newspapers) in our recycle container in the front parking lot.
