Hello sixth grade students and parents!

Welcome to room 108, my name is April Rodriguez. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and spent my senior year of college student teaching in 6th grade. This is my first year at Longfellow and I am so excited to be here and to be back in sixth grade, as I previously taught a 4/5th grade combo class. I've lived in Mesa since I was a 5th grader and graduated from Dobson High (Go Mustangs!). When I'm not at school, you can usually find me with my family and friends, or my sweet dog, Sadie. I love to read, dance, and cook, and I am a huge Arizona Cardinals fan!

Our school's motto is "Engage, Empower, Excel", and that is what I will strive for daily in our classroom as I will work to keep my students challenged and promote an environment of teamwork, accountability, and respect. I am looking forward to watching all of my students learn, grow, and make lasting friendships as they prepare to move on to junior high!
