Who is Mrs. McKenzie?

Dear parents and guardians,

I am pleased to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year at Longfellow Elementary.  My philosophy is that every child can grew and learn! I am looking forward to work with your child to help him/her make growth and progression throughout the 2021-2022 school year both academically and personally.

I graduated from the Technological Institute of Chihuahua, Mexico and have a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University with endorsements in Spanish and early childhood.  I had my first taste of teaching experience in Tucson as a bilingual teacher aide in 2006, where I fell in love with teaching.

I have taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades in the Amphitheater School District for eight years.  Since relocating to the valley, I have taught 3rd grade Dual Language in the Kyrene School District for two years and one year of 6th grade in the Chandler School District.  I am excited to teach 3rd grade for my third year at Longfellow and I am enthusiastic about working for the Mesa School District.

I am happily married and the rest of my family lives in Chihuahua and Tucson.  I have two younger sisters and many cousins. My hobbies include dancing, swimming and reading.  I am an avid traveler with many more countries to visit remaining on my bucket list.

I am very eager to work with you and your child.  I hope that together, we can become a team and work to help your child succeed in school.  I look forward to this upcoming 2021-2022 school year!
