Thank You MacArthur Community,
Earlier this year, I was approached by the district superintendency to help develop and teach an engineering, design, and innovation course at Carson Junior High. After much consideration and despite my abounding love for MacArthur, I accepted the position. It is bittersweet to share this news because I have thoroughly enjoyed my eighteen years at MacArthur (six as a student and twelve as a teacher), and I have been excited to be a part of MacArthur's push to meet the new demands of the 21st century learner. However, this opportunity presents a new challenge in my career and offers me the chance to continue to develop my teaching skills and create programs that will better prepare our students for the future. Unquestioningly, without the support of my colleagues, school administration, students, and community, I would not be where I am today. I owe a great debt of gratitude to all of you. Please remember, while I may be gone, my students will always be my students, and I look forward to hearing from you and sharing in your many future successes.

I also have bittersweet news to share. After 32 years in the district, 31 years at MacArthur, I have decided to retire at the end of my contract this year. Although I have struggled with the decision, I know that it is the right thing to do. The MacArthur community has been so good to me and truly is extraordinary. Your gift of time and sharing your talents with our staff and students are so appreciated. Everyone has always freely given me their support and encouragement throughout the years, and I know that you will welcome the new secretary with the same warmth you have shown me. I have loved working with you and watching all of the generations of students come through our doors. I have been blessed enough to be a part of the great MacArthur tradition, and I know that MacArthur is ready to meet the new demands of the 21st century. I am not saying ‘goodbye' as I will always be a part of MacArthur. I will miss you all.

To continue to provide our students and teachers with this type of support we will again offer a variety of fundraising options for next year. We hope you review these options over the Summer Break and choose to participate in a way that best suits your family.
• Flat donation to the PTO ($25.00 per student or $50.00 per family is suggested).
• Barro's Pizza Night- Barro's will donate 20% of their sales on MacArthur designated night when you mention Mac Arthur! We will announce our designated days after the start of the school year.
• All Star FUN RUN - Look for the details in the Fall.
Fundraisers that don't require money directly out of your pocket:
• Collect & send in Box Tops with your students.
• Register your Fry's, Albertson's, Safeway or Target card with the associated program that allows a percentage of the money you spend to come back to our school. We will provide information on how to sign up for these programs the first week of school.
