Stanford 10/AIMS Testing Begins
|
Dates To Remember: April 12 April 13 April 16 April 16 - 17 April 16 - 20 April 20 April 23 |
On April 16, we will begin standardized testing at MacArthur. Second grade students will take the Stanford 10 and third through sixth graders will take the AIMS Assessment.
We would like to make you aware of how critical it is that we have students present and ready to test on these days. Here are a few important reminders:
Please make sure that your children get plenty of sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast before they come to school.
Students need to be at school and on time during testing week. The federal law requires that we have 95% participation to prevent being labeled as "not making progress" - regardless of how well our students perform.
Any student who arrives after testing has begun will not be allowed to enter the classroom until the testing session is complete. They will then have to make up that section of the test at a later time.
Please refrain from scheduling any doctor or other appointments during this time. We will not interrupt classrooms during testing to call students to the office. Students that stop testing in the middle of a test section are not allowed to finish that section at a later time.
Your child's education will benefit from this testing because the assessment data helps us provide more effective instruction.
We are proud of our students and know that they will do their personal best. This is a time for our students to shine and show what they know! As always, we want to thank you for your help and support.
Jamba Juice
Due to our scheduled April Break on Friday, April 6, we will be selling Jamba Juice on Friday, April 13 in the inner courtyard for $3 each after school. See you there!
Mobile Device App Available for MPS Portal
Parents and students can now access the attendance and grades portion of MPS Portal on smartphones and other mobile devices. The application is available at the App Store and in the Android Market by searching for ParentVUE or StudentVUE. When initializing the app, the district URL is https://parent.mpsaz.org. Users must establish an account before accessing the app.
Parent Email Request
Please look for the flyer sent home today requesting parents and legal guardians to update their email addresses. As a staff, we are dedicated to using all of the tools, techniques and methodology at our disposal to provide the best education for our students. This additional form of communication will include event reminders, homework information and surveys. Your email address will not be shared with other students or families. Please send your updated information to school by Friday, April 13, 2012. You may include multiple email addresses. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete one form per child.
Welcome Michele Murphy
My name is Mrs. Michele Murphy. I am so honored and excited to be a part of the MacArthur family. I currently live in Gilbert with my husband, 18 month-old daughter, and two dogs. I love children and teaching has always been my passion. I completed my student teaching at Ishikawa three years ago and have since substitute taught for MPS. I look forward to an amazing end of the year at MacArthur!
MacArthur welcomes Mrs. Murphy to our campus teaching first grade. She will continue the excellent educational path that has been put in place for the students.
McDonald's
Thank you for supporting our students by attending our McDonald's Night on Wednesday, April 4. With our two hour sales totaling $2134.00, we received $213.40 that we will use towards purchasing technology for our classrooms. We are planning to make this fun event a yearly date with McDonald's.
