I attended Mesa schools throughout my childhood education, and graduated from Mountain View High School in 2007. After graduation, I attended Mesa Community College for two years and received my Associate's Degree in 2009. I took a break from schooling to become a massage therapist, decided it just wasn't for me, and applied for an Instructional Assistant position at Madison in 2011. During my two years at Madison, I received my B.A. in Speech and Language Science and Technology from Northern Arizona University in 2013.
After leaving Madison I went to work at Mesa High School and Dobson High School as a Transition Specialist for the Vocational Rehabilitation program through the Department of Economic Security. I was able to work with high school students with varying disabilities to help get them ready for life after high school. After working between two schools, I was offered a position as a Transition Specialist at Westwood High School in 2014. While I worked at Westwood, I enrolled in the Teacher-in-Residence program through Rio Salado College. As a TIR candidate, I taught Study Skills for freshman students who required help with executive functioning. Our main focus was the "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey. I also co-taught 9th grade science my first two years. After I graduated from the TIR program in 2017, I stayed at Westwood for two additional years and even started coaching the girl's badminton team.
In 2019, I made the decision to leave Westwood and was offered a resource teaching position at Madison. I feel like I have truly come full circle. Working at Madison has been a gift, and I feel so fortunate to work alongside some of the most dedicated teachers and staff in the district.
