Greetings and welcome to my web page! This is my 12th year at Madison Elementary, and I am excited to return as a 6th grade teacher. This year is my 23rd year teaching, all with Mesa Public Schools. I am a native Arizonan, attending Mesa schools, and graduating from Westwood High. After attending college in Utah and playing college tennis, I married Kent, and we settled back in Mesa near the rest of our family. I was fortunate to be a stay at home mom with my four children and decided to finish my teaching degree when my youngest child started elementary school.
After graduating from Arizona State University, I went on to get my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona, and endorsements in Early Childhood Education, Reading, and English as a Second Language.
My family of four children, ten grandchildren, and husband make life interesting and fun! Our Flake bunch is expanding with the addition of ten grandchildren: Brittney, Wyatt, Daxton Packer; Kimball, Maybri, McKay, and Cooper Flake; Annisten and Kai Leavitt; and Boston Flake. I enjoy playing all sports, but my favorite is tennis. In addition to teaching at Madison, I enjoy coaching the Girls Varsity Tennis Team at Mt. View High School. I love to read in my spare time, and have traveled to over 48 states in our great country.
I am looking forward to an exciting year as we explore the 6th grade subjects of reading, writing, math, world history, attend Science Camp, explore space through our Space Module, and learn together.
