Governing Board President,, Rich
Crandall was elected to the Governing Board in 2004. He is president of CN Resource, a nationwide child-nutrition consulting firm. He is also a partner and chief financial officer of Crandall Corporate Dietitians. As of January 2007, Rich also serves as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives for District 19 in Mesa. Rich earned bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting at Brigham Young University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame, summa cum laude. Rich and his wife Patrice have seven children, all of whom attend Mesa Public Schools. His community activities include Mesa Baseline Rotary, Bringing Hope to Single Moms, and a former Director of Mesa Bank. He served on the MPS Planning and Boundary Design Advisory Committee and the Community Curriculum Advisory Panel. Rich has also served as president of the Arizona Management Society, the Marriott School of Management Alumni Board, and as co-chair of the Brigham Young University Alumni Association of Phoenix. Rich's term on the MPS Governing Board expires December 31, 2008. |

Clerk, Mike
Hughes has
been a member of the MPS Governing Board
since 1994. He has been executive director
of A New Leaf since 1983. Before
that, Mike was executive director of Helaman
House Inc. and worked as a special education
director in MPS for two years. He earned
a bachelor’s degree from Arizona
State University and received a master’s
in education from Nova University. Mike
is a member of the city of Mesa’s
Gang Prevention Steering Committee and
serves on the Board of Directors of the
East Valley Boys and Girls Club, Helaman
House, Family Life Center and East Valley
Art Academy. He is a member of Kiwanis
of the Superstitions. Mike and his wife,
Mary Margaret, are the parents of five
children. Mike’s Governing Board
term expires December 2010. |

Lynn Burnham was
elected to the Governing Board in 2004.
Lynn was born and raised in Mesa and attended
Mesa Public Schools. He is president of
Copperstate Concrete, Inc., and earned
a bachelors of science degree in business
administration from Arizona State University.
Lynn lived in Italy for two years. He speaks
Italian and Spanish. Lynn and his wife,
Jenny, have seven children who are Mesa
Public Schools students or graduates. His
community activities include the Mesa Grande
Community Alliance Steering Committee,
the Boy Scouts of America, the Emerson
Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization
and School Improvement Advisory Council,
the Westwood High School Parent Group and
the district Community Curriculum Advisory
Panel. Lynn's term
on the MPS Governing Board expires December
31, 2008. |

Cindi
Hobbs has
been an MPS Governing Board member since
2000. She attended elementary and high
school in Scottsdale and earned a bachelor's
degree in elementary education from ASU.
Cindi and her husband, John, have three
children. She was involved in the Parent-Teacher
Organizations at Alma and Booker T. Washington
elementary schools and served on the
Rhodes Junior High Parent Advisory Council.
She has been a member of the Dobson High
Parent Advisory Council since 1992. Cindi
was a member of the district's School-Year
Calendar Committee from 1992 to 1996,
the year she joined the district's Planning
and Boundary Design Advisory Committee.
Cindi now serves on the Board of Directors
of the Mesa Foundation for Educational
Excellence. She has been a Mesa American
Little League volunteer for 10 years.
Cindi’s term on the MPS Governing
Board expires Dec. 31, 2008.

David Lane took office in January 2007. He and his wife have seven children, including three Mesa Public Schools graduates and three current students. David is a technician training instructor for Chapman Chevrolet in Tempe and attended the University of California San Diego. He served as the chairman for the Mesa Citizens for Responsible Public Policy in support of the district's 2005 bond issue. He is active in the district with the Special Needs Parent Advisory Council, parent-teacher organizations and the Mesa Advocates for Quality Schools; and in the community with the Boy Scouts of America, the Mesa Community College Commission on Excellence in Education and the Mesa Leadership Training and Development. David's term will expire in December 2010. |
