Kindergarten Registration - More Information
Parents may register students for kindergarten throughout the school year.

A free full-day kindergarten program is available at each school. If parents prefer a half-day program, they may choose from these regional locations:

Edison, Redbird, Patterson, Johnson, Keller, Zaharis, MacArthur, Highland, Field, Hermosa Vista, Franklin East, Franklin Northeast, Franklin South and Franklin West elementary schools.

To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must have turned 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2007.

Children who turn 5 between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 may be enrolled in a kindergarten program if parents believe it is in the child's best interest. The younger children are grouped in smaller classes, and are taught by a teacher and an instructional assistant. These classes are half day and are not available at all elementary schools. They are available at the regional locations.

To enroll for kindergarten, parents need to bring:
  • A certified copy of the youngster's birth certificate
  • A current immunization record
  • A document to verify their address, such as a current utility bill, a rent receipt, or a rental or purchase agreement.

The curriculum covers Arizona Academic Content Standards for Kindergarten and focuses on reading, writing, math, science, the arts, physical education, and social and emotional development.

Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer in the classroom and to attend school events and parent-teacher conferences.
