Our goal is to assist in the development of a life-long interest in reading.
Our school library serves as a tool in improving and enriching all functions
of the educational process. We are involved in the teaching and learning
process of students by acting as a resource center.
We participate in Battle of the Books, a voluntary reading competition,
sponsored by the City of Mesa Public Library, designed to promote the
love and appreciation of reading amongst fifth and sixth grade students.
Teams consist of three students.
During Media Center class time, Mendoza students will learn and practice
grade level appropriate information skills, including:
Location of fiction, non-fiction and reference materials
Parts of a book
Research techniques using encyclopedia, atlas, almanac, dictionary and
thesaurus
How to use the computer catalog and Dewey decimal system
And much much more………………….
