Opening of school -  2020-21 -  August 4th -  Remote / Online Instruction begins

***We will be having a virtual “Meet the Teacher” event on Monday Aug. 3rd from 4:00 - 5:00 & 5:00 – 6 p.m.  This is an extremely
important meeting that we would like all parents and students to attend.  Teachers will show you how to access Canvas, Florida Virtual, and Webex online platforms, and will be providing parents and students a tutorial on how to navigate in these online learning platforms.  Teachers will share their daily instructional schedule, how to access lessons if your child can’t be online at a specific time, and will be available to answer any questions you may have.  

Dear Mendoza Families,

I hope your family is safe, healthy, and enjoying your summer.

I wanted to reach out to you and share more specific details about the start of our 2020-2021 school year.  We are excited to start working with your children again!

I know this Covid virus has created a difficult set of circumstances for everyone.  We all want to be back on campus with students, but until it is safe to do so, we will be starting our school year remotely.  We look forward to working with you and your children this year to make this a safe and positive learning experience.  We have made a lot of positive changes to our online learning environment so it will be a more meaningful experience for your child. Thank you for continuing to be flexible this year with the many changes, and thank you for your support so we can work together to support our children as best as we can. 

Opening of school plans as of July 15th -

· School will start on August 4th remotely / online.  

· Meals are available for district enrolled students Aug 4th.  Packaged lunch and breakfast may be picked up from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Monday – Friday. Standard rates apply and students who qualify will receive free and reduced meals.  http://www.mpsaz.org/food

·  Our District will be sending you a Family Questionnaire that is focused on providing supports to you and your family (such as Internet service, laptop, child care, and meals). Please respond so we can find out what you need for your student to be successful. 

· Teachers will be working with students in Canvas (our new online learning platform), Florida Virtual (our new online curriculum), and Webex to provide live instruction using video conferencing.

· The front office and administration are currently working and are available for office questions by phone, email or scheduled in person appointments following distancing guidelines.  Our Front Office is closed to walk up visitors. Please call or email us if you have any questions.
(All questions regarding online learning will be answered by the classroom teacher on Aug. 3rd from 4 – 6 p.m.)

  • Students will return to campus when the state and district has determined it is safe to return to campus for in person classroom instruction.  When this change happens, I will share with you the safeguards that have been put into place to protect your child(ren).

  • In the future when we get close to transitioning to Modified In Person learning on campus, I will communicate with you all the specific changes on our campus and how we are doing to do our very best to keep our students and staff safe.

I want to thank you for all the support you have shown during this closure.  I look forward to working with all our families and students in the upcoming year.  Please know we will continue to make our students learning the top priority and we will provide as much support as we can during this time.
