Welcome to Room 11! I am excited to get to know you and your child as the year goes on. This is my third year teaching, and I am excited to try new and fun things. Before becoming a teacher, I was an instructional aide here at Mendoza with Special Education in the resource rooms from Kinder all the way to 6th grade.
A little about me, I am a mother of three teenagers who keep me hopping, between Boy Scouts, and Marching Band I am always on the move. I have lived in Mesa for 6 years and moved here from Riverside, California.
I am a TIR, which is a Teacher In Residence, so I am completing some college courses while I work with your child. I hope that we learn a lot about each other.
A little about Room 11:
Homework is sent home every Monday in your students folder. This homework needs to be returned on Friday of the same week. This home work helps your student to be accountable, as well as to support the things we are learning in class. Never spend more then 20 minutes a night on homework.
Attendance is important! We work on many fun activities over the week, and if you student misses a day, they miss out on the project. I hate when this happens, but there is never enough time to make up work that is missed.
Students at Mendoza earn paws rewards. These tickets are placed in a whole school drawing at the end of the week to earn a chance at a prize from the principle. I also count this tickets up, and award students points that is used for a once a month award in the classroom. This could be an art project, extra recess, game time, pizza party, and at the end of the school year we do an ice cream party with all the toppings. Your student will receive a PAWS award for being Polite and Respectful, Accountable, Well Prepared and Safe!
Here is to a fun school year!
