Biography

My teaching career began in 1994 with Mesa Public Schools. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and began teaching  here in Mesa at Longfellow Elementary. I have taught 6th grade at Longfellow, MacArthur, and Bush Elementary. This is my 8th year teaching the Gifted and Talented program at Bush Elementary.  Professionally I also teach the Gifted Foundations courses for Mesa Public Schools and am a presenter at the Arizona Association for Gifted Children conferences.  I am passionate about the gifted mind and helping these young children in their education.

On a personal note, I grew up in Colorado and moved to Arizona to start my teaching career.  I have two daughters, one attends University of Arizona and my other daughter is graduating from Mesa High this spring.  I enjoy watching football and cheering on the Denver Broncos. I also enjoy camping, hiking, and traveling. Spending time with my family is my favorite hobby.

My teaching philosophy centers around this quote:  "Ask not how smart is the child but how is the child smart" -Gardner
