Biography:

Welcome to our 5/6 combo class at Mendoza Elementary!  I am so excited to have each of you in our class!

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 1991. I am certified to teach grades 1-8 and have additional certifications in junior high math, language and social studies.  I have a bit of a nomadic personality so have had the pleasure of teaching in various places like rural and inner city Oklahoma, Australia, Scottsdale and Mesa.  This will be my 28th year as a classroom teacher with 5 of those years with Mesa Public Schools. My experience ranges from grades 2 through 7.  This is my second year teaching a combination class.

Our class will be fairly unique in that we have the privilege of being involved with a research team from ASU.  We get to have Dr. Terri and her therapy dog, Shayna, spend time with us and keep us active with STEM activities involving Shayna.  They are both part of the ASU team and we love having them in our class!

My family includes my husband, Steve; daughter Amy, and 3 gorgeous rescue Labradors.  Their names are Zoe, Indy and Hurley.  They are the absolute loves of my life.  My family is heavily involved in dog rescue in the Valley and we stay busy either fostering dogs or raising money to assist with their medical expenses.

We are going to have a very productive and exciting year.  I can't wait to get started!
