Ms. Amanda Cherry
Biotech Academy Coordinator
I hope to build the knowledge of my students through hands on activities and teach them the skills needed to be successful not only in science careers, but in post-secondary courses and other possible careers.
My Bachelor's Degree is from Arizona State University in Secondary Science Education. My Master's Degree is a Master of Arts of Science Teaching from Northern Arizona University.
I teach our Biotechnology Courses for Dual Enrollment credit at the University of Arizona.
I am an AVID trained teacher and incorporate AVID methodologies and activities into our science classes. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends camping, hiking and serving my community. In the fall, football is life each weekend!
Go Sun Devils!
In June of 2010, I was honored to travel with a group of Biotechnology Academy students to the Republic of Ireland. During our ten days on the Emerald Isle, we were fortunate to visit nine schools and share our knowledge of biotechnology with several hundred students. I look forward to seeing the impact on both our students and the Irish students who welcomed us to their classes.
During the summer of 2009, I was privileged to co-sponsor a group of our Biotech Academy students to China on an exchange program. I hope that each student had a transformative experience - I know I did! (Click Here for a Short Video)
