After graduating from Arizona State University, I began my career teaching 8th grade English at Dysart Junior High in Surprise, Arizona. Now in my 23rd year of teaching, I've been fortunate to work at some of the best high schools in the East Valley, including Gilbert, Dobson, and Mesa. Now, after a hiatus to explore law school and other opportunities, I feel especially lucky to be here at MHS.

In addition to teaching high school, I have taught a variety of courses in the classroom and online for Mesa Community College, including English 101, 102, and Creative Writing. Also at Mesa Community College, I served as Faculty Development Coordinator and Distance Learning Coordinator during the 2001-2002 school year.

The generations of my family who have graduated from Mesa High School include my grandmother, Esther Huber, who graduated in 1925 and my grandfather, Winton Miller, who graduated in 1926. My father, Jim Miller, graduated from MHS in 1949. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing, a BA in English, and an honorary diploma from Mesa High School, which is--as are my two daughters, ages 25 and 20--my pride and joy.
