 Mr. DiDomenico      

 

Now in his 31st year, Mr. DiDomenico has taught and coached at the high school and collegiate levels.  He currently teaches AP US History, General Psychology, Sports Psychology and coaches wrestling at Mesa High School (AZ).  Mr. DiDomenico also teaches in the Sports Management Masters Program at Ohio University, facilitating classes in Leadership, Sports Psychology, and Ethics and Diversity.  He is also an undergraduate professor at Benedictine University (Mesa, AZ) teaching Sociology of Sport.  His teaching calling is to connect with his students in a way to which they reach potentials they did not know they can do!  His athletics calling is restructuring teams into successful programs.  Popular athletes under his tutelage include NFL’s Marquis Cooper, Nick Murphy, and Ryan Fitzpatrick, and 2011 NCAA Wrestling Champion, ESPY Award and Jim Valvano Recipient, Anthony Robles. 

       Students of Mr. DiDomenico have attained prominent futures in higher education, in our military, and in service to our fellow people.  Former students have studied at Harvard Graduate School, Johns Hopkins University, Barrett Honors College at ASU, Walter Cronkite Graduate School of Journalism, University of Arizona Business, U of A Medical, UCLA, Stanford Law, Cornell, Dubuque University (IA), and others.  Some have made a positive impact proudly serving in our armed forces as US Navy Corpsman, Special Forces, US Marines, and one was a jet engine mechanic for President Obama's Air Force One.  A few are actively serving our public as LAPD, Mesa PD, and Mesa and Tempe Fire Departments.  Some even were inspired to the calling to become teachers themselves! 

       Mr. DiDomenico successful methods are both in the classroom and athletics, as has coached in 7 state title wrestling programs, headed the 2006 NAIG National Champion Team and 2009 National Runner up Team, 7 AZ/USA Nat’l and 3 International Teams, winning tournaments in Berlin, Auckland, and Honolulu, and a multiple selection all-star coach.  He has been awarded 4 AZ Coach of the Years (COY), 2008 East Valley Tribune COY, NHSWCA District VIII COY, 2007 NHSWCA National COY Finalist, 2006 and 2018 US Marines AZ Elite Educator, 2001 Mesa Schools Teacher of the Month, 3X Who’s Who for Teachers, and a College Board AP Reader.  Mr. DiDomenico is an inductee of both the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Honors Fraternities for the nation's top performing graduate students. He is a 2018 Fellowship recipient by Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation in Washington, DC. From Mesa High, Mr DiDomenico was awarded the prestigious 2018 Zedo and Zahner Award. He has been elected to numerous boards and committees to represent the people at Mesa High, at the District, and at the State Level in various capacities. Mayor Giles hand picked Mr. DiDomenico to populate a City of Mesa Roundtable committee to discuss preparation for high school students to vertically integrate into Mesa Small Businesses. Mr. DiDomenico earned a BA Sec Ed (Ex Phys & Urban Growth and Development) from the University of Arizona, MA Ed Theory from Madison Univ, and MS Sports Management from Ohio University.
