Ms. Julie Monteleone
Stained Glass, and AP Art History

I have been teaching art and technology to Arizona students from kindergarten through high school for 16 years. This is my sixth year at Mesa High, and I am very excited to teach at such an outstanding school. I have lived in Arizona for the last twenty years, and have three children.
After growing up and beginning college in New York, I moved to California and worked in graphic design, magazine publishing and real estate. I took some time off when my children were younger and became involved in the Art Masterpiece program in their schools. After volunteering in my children's classes, I decided to go back to school so that I could teach art. I completed Rio Salado's education program, and received my degree in Art Education from State University of New York/Empire State.
This year I am teaching Stained Glass and AP Art History. I am also an Advisor for the SHOut Club, which is a service learning club for students.
If you are taking AP Art History in the coming year, please check out this link: https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse
The link for AP Art History will give you information about the course. There is no required reading for summer, but there are many interesting books and movies that will help you with the course. One I like is:
The Annotated Mona Lisa by Carol Strickland, PhD. Movies include The Monuments Men, The Woman in Gold, The Agony and the Ecstasy, The Girl with the Pearl Earring (book is great). Hope you have a great summer!
