Biography

My teaching career began in 2006 at Carson Jr High where I taught 7-9 grade English. Of the years I have taught, five years were spent in Queen Creek where I taught grades 5-7, coached cheerleading, golf, and ran various after-school community education programs for the students. I returned to Mesa Public Schools in 2013 and taught 7-8 grade English at Kino Jr High for three years before finding my home at Mesa High. I can say that I am happy and proud to be a Jackrabbit.

So you can get to know me, I am originally from San Jose, California and have lived in Arizona since I graduated from Utah State University in 2002 with a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences and minor in Japanese language. I earned my Masters in Elementary Education with a Secondary Education minor in 2005 and have been in the classroom since 2006. I finished a Masters in Literacy through Arizona State University in the spring of 2016 and am looking forward to the next stage of my educational journey.

I am an avid reader, avid hockey fan, love baseball, enjoy writing, play the piano and guitar, as well as love to travel. My students tease me because of the sports paraphernalia around my classroom, but it’s me. I also have an interest in the theater and have participated in Community Theater in plays such as Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Father of the Bride, Wizard of Oz, and Hairspray, as well as choreographed for children’s theater. I also play co-ed ice hockey 3-4 times a week.
