Lorelei Barker attended Arizona State University on a full violin scholarship where she received a B.S. in Journalism, Public Relations in 1989.  She was also a member of the ASU Dance Team. She obtained her post-degree certification in Secondary Education/English from Northern Arizona University in 1990 and began her teaching career with Mesa Public Schools in 1991.  She earned her M.Ed from Northern Arizona University in 1998. Mrs. Barker spent the first part of her career coaching cheer as well as teaching English.  She is currently teaching Honors Sophomore and Sophomore AVID. She has taught Sophomore English, Junior English, Team Up for Success, and has attended the AVID trainings in San Diego and Sacramento.  She was Mesa Public Schools Educator of the Month in October 2000, and was awarded the Phoenix Suns Arizona Educator Award later that year.

Lorelei enjoys spending time with her family, playing the violin with Tempe Symphony Orchestra, yoga, movies, travel, photography, musical theater, and being a mom.
