Welcome! My name is Ms. Laura Yahnke, and this is my 2nd year teaching at Mesa High, and the start of my 21st year of teaching in Special Education. I began my journey in teaching with a year at the junior high level, followed by 18 years teaching students with various disabilities at the elementary level, before making the decision to transition to high school. Mesa High is an amazing community of students and staff, and I am happy to be here! I teach ELA Inclusion, Reading, and Science Inclusion.
I attended Mesa schools from K-12th grade, and received my bachelor's degree in Special Education K-12 from Arizona State University. I have endorsements in Learning Disabled, Intellectual Disability, and Structured English Immersion.
Outside of school, I am a single mom to 16 year old twins, a son and a daughter, and 3 fur babies. I understand first hand, the struggles our children face, both with this age, as well as learning, social, and emotional challenges that many kids face.
I am excited to be kicking off 2021-2022 in person, and look forward to a great year! Let's go Jackrabbits!
