Course Description:

This course is the second class of a three-course sequence (Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2) which all students should have completed before leaving high school.  Geometry includes the study of a classic mathematical system, deductive proof, inductive and deductive reasoning, topics from both plane and solid geometry, plus an introduction to analytical geometry.  Geometry provides opportunities for practical reasoning in problem situations similar to those which students meet in everyday living.

Textbook:

            Geometry by McDougal Littell

Students will be provided a textbook for home use.  If your textbook is lost or damaged you will be issued another book and be charged for the lost or damaged one.  A classroom textbook will also be provided.  Do NOT write in any textbook.

Materials Required Daily:

1.       Notebook – for keeping daily notes

2.       8 ½ “ x 11” paper – for assignments

3.       Pencils or pens

4.       Assignment Calendar

Assignments and Grading:

All Tests, Quizzes, and Assignments will receive a percent value.  Quarter grades are determined by taking 50% of the Test % score average, 30% of the Quiz % score average, and 20% of the Assignment % score average.  Semester grades are determined by taking 45% of the 1st quarter grade, 45% of the 2nd quarter grade, and 10% Semester Final Exam.  Letter grades use the following chart:

90% - above = A

                                                            80% - 89% = B

                                                            70% - 79% = C

                                                            60% - 69% = D

                                                            59% - below = F

Retakes:

This is a mastery learning classroom.  If you score below 70% on a test, you may retake a similar test during a lunch period on a teacher assigned date.

Absence – Make-Up Policy:

1.       Students with excused absences will be allowed as many days to make-up work as they were absent.

2.       The student is personally responsible for assignments missed and completing that work in the designated time.

3.       Sweep does NOT excuse you from an assignment or any other work done in class.

Tardy Policy:

2.       You may use the classroom pass when an emergency arises after the 10 min.
