Ritchie Martin was a two-sport athlete at Franklin High School in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. He was an All-State performer at both wide receiver and defensive back on the football field. After earning a spot on the Santa Rosa Jr College Football Team, Mr. Martin earned All-American honors as a wide receiver. Mr. Martin finished his college career on the nationally ranked Linfield College Wildcats in McMinnville, Oregon where he earned Rookie of the Year honors. Martin lived his lifelong dream of playing professionally with the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Eskimos and the Arena League’s Everett Hawks.

While playing professionally, Mr. Martin laid the foundation for his coaching career, spending time at Linfield College as a graduate assistant, and spending two off-seasons as an assistant coach for a semi-pro team in Oregon. After retiring as a player, Martin spent a few years working away from athletics before he returned to the game as a coach at Franklin High School for 7 Years, his high school alma mater. In 2012 Coach Martin moved to Yuma, Arizona to be the receiver coach as a part of the coaching staff at Arizona Western College. Mr. Martin taught PE / Sociology at Arizona Western. After successful campaigns, including a El Toro Bowl win, Mr. Richie Martin is excited for the opportunity to teach and coach at Mesa High School.
