Welcome to the new school year Mesa Jackrabbits! My name is Bill Chrisman and this is my first year both at Mesa High School and Mesa Public Schools. I am always willing to work with you or answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability. Please feel free to email me any time!
Education and Professional Background
I received my high school diploma from Chaparral High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am a proud graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. While attending UNLV, I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Advertising. Once I realized that my true passion involved teaching and coaching, I attended Arizona State University to fulfill the academic requirements necessary for me to receive my teaching certification. Finally, I earned my Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I have taught different mathematics courses for over 20 years in the valley and currently live in Gilbert.
I believe that all students can learn and be successful; thus I am enthusiastic about providing opportunities for both academic and personal growth. Mathematics makes our life orderly and prevents chaos. Certain qualities that are developed by mathematics are power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving ability and even effective communication skills. Without mathematics, the world cannot move an inch. Be it a cook or a farmer, a carpenter or a mechanic, a shopkeeper or a doctor, an engineer or a scientist, a musician or a magician, everyone needs mathematics in their day-to-day life. Even insects use mathematics in their everyday life for existence. Thus, mathematics is a vital part of your life and your future.
I am going to share with you 2 quotes from Hall–of-Fame basketball players. I believe both of these statements not only refer to their athletic endeavors, but more importantly to attributes that are fundamental in terms of working hard, overcoming challenges and being successful in life - no matter what path you choose! Carry On!
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
“You can't win unless you learn how to lose….and I try to do the right thing at the right time. They may just be little things, but usually they make the difference between winning and losing.”
