Student Support Groups |
Group is a small, interactive environment
where we learn how to work positively with emotions within given situations
and to develop other important life skills. Group is a great place to share
your concerns, feelings, and thoughts and receive support from other students
who may be experiencing problems similar to yours.
Groups meet on a rotating basis so the student does not have to miss the same class more than once or twice. Counselors are available to help students cope with personal needs. If something is getting in the way of doing well in school, please submit the student name(s) and issue(s) and we will come together with other peers to get support and learn coping skills. Groups can include, but are not limited to:
BUILDING SELF ESTEEM
Learning tips on how to feel better about yourself.
ANGER MANAGEMENT
A safe place to learn how to control your anger and relieve it appropriately without becoming physically or verbally abusive.
Making good decisions. Managing a busy lifestyle, making good decisions and feeling great.
LOSS
Letting go. How do you feel when you lose someone you love? Learn about the process of grieving when experiencing divorce, moving, or broken relationships.
POSITIVE FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS
Learning better communication skills, strategies in dealing with parents, step-parents, and siblings.
FEELING LONELY
Positive tips on making new friends, dealing with loneliness.
HEALTHY CHOICES
Looking and feeling good!
Learning to balance a healthy diet, exercise, self-esteem and making the right
decision about drugs and alcohol.
