There are many people and places that welcome your service. You can volunteer at schools, non-profit organizations, and government agencies (like City of Mesa departments). Many faith-based organizations also sponsor service projects for their youth members such as participating in Amor Ministries which builds houses for those who really need them. You can't volunteer at a business.

The link below called “Help Now” is a list of places who have projects that need help right now. These are not the only places where you can do service, but they will give you a good start.
