What is Service?

Service is helping out other people, animals, your community or country, or even the planet. It is also called volunteering. When you volunteer, you are giving your time without being paid (like a job). Even though you aren’t getting paid, you have a great time and get a lot out of it.

Service learning is even better! When you serve others, you can also learn a lot about yourself and others, and sometimes it is a good way to practice the stuff you are learning in class. You can do service learning as part of a school class, a school club, a team, or even with your family. And it’s definitely a great experience to do service with your friends. If you are a teenager, you can even volunteer out in the community on your own.
