The Process

Step 1:  Complete an application.  There are various ways to obtain an application.  They may be found in Room 724, on the wall outside the counseling office, or you may download them off the Mesa Service Learning website.  Submit the application to Mrs. Thorp in Rm. 724, and receive a timecard.  (If it's during the summer, you may email Andrea Murphy at apmurphy@mpsaz.org to get a timecard.)

Step 2:  Students complete a volunteer activity, fill out the timecard, and submit it to Mrs. Thorp in Rm. 724 by April 1st. 

Step 3:  Students must participate in the Service Learning Reflection on Tuesday, April 24th in the Media Center after school.  The hours will not be counted as service learning without the Reflection component.  Sign up for the Reflection begins April 1st.

Step 4:  If students volunteers150 hours or more during high school, they may earn the Honor for Excellence in Service Learning.  A gold seal will be placed on their diploma, and the number of hours they volunteered will appear on their transcript.
