First off, congratulations to all our graduating seniors. You did it and off you go to a new phase in your life. We at Mountain View are all very proud of all your accomplishments.  We will miss you, but look forward to hearing about your new adventures.

It's summer vacation!!! What's on your agenda?!

What to do; take a free SAT prep class, look for scholarships, work on a personal statement?  Yikes, what happened to relaxing or hanging out with friends?!  Don't worry you'll still have plenty of time for that.  Here are a few suggestions to work on in your "freetime":

Camp Invention

Paid Internship Opportunity

High School Students Needed

Are you looking for leadershp experiences to add to your college resume?  Hermosa Vista and Las Sendas Elementary schools are hosting Camp Invention, a weeklong summer program for children in grades 1st-6th. Each camp lasts 5 days, 6 1/2 hours per day. Leadershp interns will be supervised by qualified educators on site. Intern stipend of $150 or community service hours in lieu of stipend.

Dates are:   Hermosa Vista - June 18th thru June 22nd

                    Las Sendas - July 9th thru Julyy 13th

2012 Asian Summer Experience

 Westminster College, Missouri

Center for engaging the World. You will be introduced to Asia (the people, the culture, and places) and experience a college level course in Asian Studies. The course may be taken for optional college credit. This is a five-day experience on the beautiful and historic Westminster College campus in Fulton, Missouri.  Westminster College is focused on building leaders in a gobal community.

A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due by 6/15/12 to hold your place in the program.

 

Young Arts

National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts

The 2013 application is now open. As the sole national organization dedicated to encouraging and recognizing artistic excellence in the visual, literary and performing arts (including dance, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing), YoungArts ensures the nation's most outstanding high school students are encouraged to pursue careers in the arts.

Benefits of the YoungArts program include:

  • Exclusive U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts nominations
  • Master classes with world-renowned artists
  • Acces to scholarships, career opportunities and professional contacts
  • $500,000 in total monetary awards

Reminder

The Counseling office is now closed for the summer, Counselors do not return until the beginning of August.  It is very important that when you receive your registration packet in the mail in July you look over the classes that you registered for, if there are any changes or problems please make note of them on the enclosed schedule change form. Please make sure to send the required materials back as soon as possible.  Check your Student Portal before returning to school.
