I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology during the Fall of 2012. I knew from that moment that I did not just want to know about science but I wanted to teach, inspire, and live in the science.
During the Summer of 2013 I decided to continue with my passion by pursing a Masters of Secondary Education through the iTeachAZ Teacher Education for Arizona Math and Science (TEAMS) Program through the Arizona State University. I student taught at Westwood High School and Rhodes Junior High and I completed the program and graduated with my Masters during the summer of 2014.
Right after graduation that summer, I immediately started working towards my Career and Technical Education Endorsement by volunteering in ASU's Biodesign Institute at the Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology under the direct instruction from co-principal investigator, Dr. Yen-jung Lai and director, Dr. Bruce E. Rittmann. I assisted with the selective fermentation process as an alternative for microalgae-derived biofuel and was published in the 2016 journal, AlgaI Research for the contributions made to this project.
That same summer, I was offered a position here at Mountain View High School as the 2014-15 CTE Biotechnology instructor and I happily accepted the position. I am proud to be apart of the Toro Nation where traditions are valued and honor is expected. Biotechnology is my passion and what better way to embrace it than here at Mountain View! I am looking forward to the amazing years to come.
