Biography

Allison graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Secondary Math Education in 2015. While completing her Masters in Mathematics at NAU, she also taught a variety of courses for the university including Pre-Calculus and College Algebra.  After graduating in 2017, she left Flagstaff to return to her hometown of Mesa, Arizona. She is very excited to be returning for her second year at Mountain View and is looking forward to sharing her love and passion for math with her students.

While at Northern Arizona University, Allison was honored to be named a Robert Noyce Fellow, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Having attended and presented at several NSF conferences in San Francisco, Fresno, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Flagstaff, and Washington D.C., she enjoys both the classroom and the research components of STEM education. Even though she will be focusing on teaching more in the coming years, she is excited to incorporate different types of instruction including Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) and Project Based Instruction (PBI). She is hoping to give students a new perspective of mathematics and a new lens to look at the world through.

In her free time, Ms. Steinken enjoys drinking copious amounts of coffee, coloring, reading, doing puzzles with her husband, and practicing/teaching yoga.
